All sessions are 20-25 minutes in length.

High School Entrance Testing with Test Prep Chicago
Public & private high school entrance testing tips and tricks to help you know what to expect for the high school entrance exams, including the CPS SEHS exam, the parochial HSPT and the independent ISEE exams.

Navigating High School Admissions with Chicago School GPS
Chicago School GPS will provide an overview of the high school search and admissions process to help you and your family with this important decision and make it a bit less overwhelming.
  • Learn about CPS High School options (beyond Selective Enrollment!) including IB, magnet and specialty schools.
  • Learn the requirements for admission to public and private schools: CPS Tiers, the Point System, independent & parochial school timelines, interviews and recommendations.
  • Get a jump on the high school search madness by learning some tips and strategies, including how to tackle school tours and open houses.

Think a private school education is out of your reach?  Think again!  Learn about the myriad of scholarship opportunities at both parochial and independent private schools, including need and merit based scholarships.  Understand the process and timing involved so that you don’t miss out on any opportunities!

Peer-to-Peer Q&A Session for Middle Schoolers with High School Students
Want to learn the REAL scoop about life during high school?  The best perspective is that from a current student, so middle schoolers are encouraged to attend this peer-to-peer session to ask questions and get honest answers from peers currently in high school.  Please have your middle schooler include a question for the session at the bottom of the pre-registration form.

Executive Functioning Success for Middle Schoolers by Chicago Home Tutor
Geared to middle schoolers to help them identify areas of focus to get them ready for high school.  Targeting organization, time management, planning, prioritizing, study skills and test taking: the skills they need now to make them successful, independent learners that are KEY to making a smooth transition between middle and high school.

Entrance Essay Mini-Bootcamp for Middle Schoolers 

A mini-bootcamp for middle schoolers to learn the ins and outs of writing effective application essays.  Whether you are applying to public or private schools, chances are you may need to write an essay as part of your application or interview process, so here’s your chance to learn some helpful tips!
